CODiE Award Finalist
Thursday, Feb 09, 2006
NEWBURYPORT, Mass., Feb. 6, 2006 -Muzzy Lane Software has been selected as a 2006 CODiE Awards finalist for its success in developing multiplayer video games for education.
The company's "Making History" videogame series, now in use in classrooms and homes across the United States, has been chosen in three separate categories: Social Studies; Students at Home; and Post Secondary Curriculum.
The CODiE Awards, conducted by the Software and Information Industries Association, has each year since 1986 celebrated outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital content and education technology industries.
Through a unique combination of journalist and peer review, the CODiE Awards recognize 71 categories of outstanding products and services, as well as corporate excellence and philanthropy.
Muzzy Lane Software is recognized for creating the market's first built-for-education videogame platform that emphasizes critical thinking and collaborative problem solving while employing the familiar - and fun - features of multiplayer online games.
"When we started the company a few years ago we knew we were onto a pretty big idea," says Dave McCool, CEO of Muzzy Lane Software. "Kids in school today are the game generation. They engage and process information and concepts in fundamentally different ways than the pre-digital generations did. Awards like this are acknowledgment that the product we've built is living up to that idea. It's a testament to the hard work of our employees and the enthusiastic support of our customers."
Winners of the 2006 CODiEs will be announced at a national awards event on May 16 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel, San Francisco, CA.
