Calm and the Storm prepares to ship
Thursday, Aug 25, 2005
It's been a busy summer incorporating the excellent feedback from our beta sites and researchers into the game. We've been pleasantly surprised to learn that most of the comments focus on specific user interface issues. The underlying systems are working as we had hoped.

All the hard work, late hours and attention to detail are about to pay off. The completed 1.0 version of "Making History" is nearing the finish line!

Key highlights that will appear as new and improved features of "Making History" include:

- The completion of six game scenarios - with up to 13 fully playable countries - representing thousands of research hours and historical models of over nearly 70 nations.

- Simplified primary game controls, making it much easier for students to access the central action areas of foreign diplomacy, economics, domestic policy and military strategy.

- New world map interface that gives players the information they need quickly to make decisions and rapidly adjust their view of the playing field, from a wide angle world view to detailed close-ups of countries, regions, and cities.

- New reporting engine that allows players to see a real-time summary of their actions, and lets teachers can see the status of all game activity at any time.

- Reduced memory requirements and other code optimizations that make the game lighter and faster.
